Currently listening to: ” Dont u evah” by Spoon
Saw “Up in the Air” the other day and eye thought it was a very deliberate and excellent film. The former description a reference to the zeitgeist capturing motives of George Clooney & Co; the latter being the ensuing results (P.S: very well placed soundtrack)
Truly had a rousing good time and unequivocally my favorite broadway experience on Nov 28th!
Something to look forward to in February.

Last night made for eventful (live) TV, with Letterman taking the cake (easily!!). My opinion on the whole Polanski debacle is clear but on the oft-chance that some ambiguity still persists; the good Chris Rock crystallizes things

Had a conversation last night over several rounds of drinks (Ward 8 to be precise) and it tethered itself to the idea of people, specifically friends/lovers, how they, much like everything else ease in and out of our lives. Along an unpredictable rhythm, some stay longer than we would like while others fade far too soon. So while eye have all of you here, in one place: Thanks for everything. Truly!

1) Copenhagen as a city definitely represents a sensibility eye can retire myself to yrs from now. Trip highlights were aplenty but if am forced to play favorites (and in no particular order): birthday meal @ noma ; Giacometti sculptures as seen in the Louisana Museum; grass grazing in Fredriksburg gardens, bottomless coffee @ Laundromat cafe
2) Currently listening to: “A walk across rooftops”- Blue nile.
3) Its here- the “season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”. Autumn as articulated by John Keats.
4) Lastly, the above image being evidence enough. Glad football season is underway. Giants-Colts is my superbowl pick. Going to go out on a limb and predict a Manning will be victorious @ QB

Will be the first to admit that Ted [1932-2009] was never my favorite kennedy (that distinction goes to Bobby). He was unlike his brothers, less steeped in glamour and mythology. He was all the better for it. Because with that, he gave us all the kennedy we deserved- a human, gray-haired one.
Listening to “Air – Casanova 70″
Up next on the Netflix queue.
Leading contender for best ad in 2009. Looks to me like it was all on one single-shot take.

Copenhagen in T- 20 days.

Made for an interesting read in between (multiple) reaches for coffee. Although, to be fair, dining al fresco certainly livens any conversation.
“And I say: That little ole lonely elevator girl looking up sighing in an elevator full of blurred demons, what’s her name & address?” —The last line of Jack Kerouac’s introduction to The Americans by Robert Frank, 1958.c. On view @ the Met this fall.
Passion pit- “Manners”, is holding up quite well on multiple listens. Proving to be a strong buy.
Aesthetic pieces I can certainly get behind.

Nearly 2 months old…we are still bumping ‘The Estatic’, Mos Def’s awesome, nearly flawless new album. Again, us being behind, I meant to post these back in May/June. Here is yours truly walking the streets of Osaka, Japan while reciting his own lyrics to the new album. Promotional vids courtesy of Mr. Def and Current TV. View larger here.

“Now I am quietly waiting for
the catastrophe of my personality
to seem beautiful again,
and interesting, and modern.” – Frank O’ Hara as featured on Mad-Men/Season 2.
Monocle. Get familiar!
The look on S. Carter’s face @ about min 39:27 is priceless. An unconventional (visual) study on the art of an interview; more importantly the role of delivery and preparation. Lesson #1: Always come to work prepared. FYI: On the day before, Charlie interviewed U.S. poet laureate Kay Ryan with the exact same elan!!
One of my favorite artists to be borne from the YBA movement, finally comes stateside.

Really looking forward to catching HURT LOCKER on the big screen.
Latest musical discovery is a local band around my way: Passion Pit. And with that I offer up: swimming in a flood.

Another young star is rising. Meet Cleveland-bred Kid Cudi (pronounced Cuddy). The video for KiD CuDi’s ‘Day ‘N’ Night’ after the jump.

I am truly excited to hear the new Yeah Yeah Yeah’s album, ‘It’s Blitz!’. Judging by the first single, ‘Zero’ (see video after the jump), its going to be the dopeness! Karen O is my Erykah Badu of RockRoll! Rock on!

Over the weekend we went over to check out the OMA installation/exhibition/sales center on Mercer St. for their new building coming to 22nd street in Manhattan. OMA took the design of the building and put it on its side as the main piece of the installation in which the visitor walks through. The inner construct contains both prelim and final models, renderings, on the OMA monographs, while the outside area go into real detail about the new building with more renderings, plans, sections and show more projects that OMA has completed and/or are working on. Needless to say the installation was great and super informative. view some pics here. Be sure to check out the vid as well.

We had the pleasure of seeing the dynamic music genius, Juana Molina tonight in Manhattan. Her set is quite amazing as she seemingly constructs her music right in front of her audience. Her copy and paste style layers exotic sounds on top of each and before you know it, you are deep into her musical journey.

Yup, Wale (pronounced Wa-lay). Meet the future of hip hop. The D.C. based, Wale has created two street mixtapes that are causing a stir and real build up for his full debut LP to be released in 2009. The first mixtape, called, Mixtape About Nothing, which is an ode to the hit tv series, Seinfeld (he is a huge fan, and so are we). The second mixtape is called, 100 Miles And Running…both are flawless as they display Wale’s endless rhyme skills. Enjoy these 2 tracks from each mixtape respectively.

The multi-talented Mos Def is just about to release the highly anticipated album, The Estatic. Here is a gem off of what hopes to be a stellar album. ‘Quiet Dog’ and for good measure we throw in Def’s remix to Jay-Z and Santogold’s ‘Brooklyn, We Go Hard’ performed at the Highline Ballroom in January ’09.

Definitely one of the best hip hop albums to come out in 2008. Production veteran, 88-Keys released a super concept album entitled, ‘The Death of Adam’. A story about Adam’s trials and tribulations with his sexual relationships with a woman that evetually leads to his demise. The album displays a wide range of music and features other artist like, Kanye West, Redman & more. Take a listen to the intro track, ‘Morning Wood’.
