This is about a month old but i enjoyed these Umbro competition entries. “After thousands of entries, here at Umbro we can unveil the finalists in our competition to customise the sole on a pair of Specialis. The response we had was amazing, with a fantastic range of designs from different ages and different countries around the world. These are the final 14, chosen from the thousands of different designs by a team of judges which included Umbro designers Stuart Semple and Stewart Scott-Curran, and Esquire’s art director David McKendrick. Initially we planned to have 11 winners, but the points system used by the judges to pick their favourites meant that we ended up with four designs tied in 11th place!”
Eco-conscience, Eviana Hartman, designs the Bodkin Brooklyn collection in accordance with the principles of sustainability in materials and production methods, while maintaining the fashion aesthetic required by the stylish modern woman. The name Bodkin comes from the early English name for a dagger, needle, or hairpin. Bodkin was recently featured in I.D. Mag (Nov. 09)…Watch Eviana briefly talk more about her company goals and its roots here. Our talented friend, Roanne Adams art directed the photo shoot for the Bodkin catalog.

England recently launched their new football kits designed by underground fashion darling, Aitor Throup for Umbro (love the new site). The ultra sleek, super refined, minimal get-up are so well designed that all sports teams should take note. One of the most well-respected pro skaters in the biz, Stefan Janoski finally got his own long-overdue shoe with Nike SB. In keeping with his relaxed, nonchalant skate style, the Zoom Janoski is a clean, comfortable and functional shoe. Take a look at the making of the shoe by Nike designer, James Arizumi.

Lyn Devon has racked up a lot of kudos in a short amount of time, and this concise collection of American sportswear, presented by appointment at Antony Todd’s boutique, demonstrated why. “In this economy I want to offer women something that makes them happy and shows that they are optimistic,”. Ms. Devon is an alum of Brown University and Parsons the New School for Design.

Among of the most novel formats we received this season: a Mylar balloon, an oven mitt, a slab of felt and a paper pyramid housing an air plant. Of course, sometimes less is more (if you’re Marc Jacobs). See more invitations we can’t bear to throw away.” Happy to find out the invite above was created by good friend, Roanne Adams.
The legendary Bauhaus movement turns 90 this year and the anniversary is being marked by exhibitions from Tokyo to New York. The school was founded by a young architect, Walter Gropius, who wanted to shape products for the future and create a more just society.
