Saw “Up in the Air” the other day and eye thought it was a very deliberate and excellent film. The former description a reference to the zeitgeist capturing motives of George Clooney & Co; the latter being the ensuing results (P.S: very well placed soundtrack)
Truly had a rousing good time and unequivocally my favorite broadway experience on Nov 28th!
Something to look forward to in February.

This is about a month old but i enjoyed these Umbro competition entries. “After thousands of entries, here at Umbro we can unveil the finalists in our competition to customise the sole on a pair of Specialis. The response we had was amazing, with a fantastic range of designs from different ages and different countries around the world. These are the final 14, chosen from the thousands of different designs by a team of judges which included Umbro designers Stuart Semple and Stewart Scott-Curran, and Esquire’s art director David McKendrick. Initially we planned to have 11 winners, but the points system used by the judges to pick their favourites meant that we ended up with four designs tied in 11th place!”

Super artist, Sarah Oppenheimer updates her site with new works. Absolutely love her stuff!
“The focus of Sarah’s work is the feedback loop between constructed spaces and pedestrian motion. She studies how the built environment and human behavior reciprocally impact each other; most recently, the way that the visual progression of the human gaze is mapped by the contours of a given space. Sarah opens apertures in existing architectures, modifying the modular units that make up our standardized urban world. These apertures create new lines of sight within the space of display, and can function as both “holes” and “screens.”

Amazing amazing storytelling by image creator/hunter, Desiree Dolron.

Soft-Maps are quilted maps of cities and neighborhoods that represent someone’s unique place in the world. These quilts are meant to be used: wrap your children in them, have a picnic, pull them close during the next Nor’easter. Not only beautiful, these blankets can be used as a mnemonic tool. As your child grows up with a Soft Map, they learn to read their neighborhood and its landmarks in a tactile, easily remembered way. Emily Fischer

Svpply. A site that combines the function of an referral e-commerce site and FFFFound for fashion and the like. So dangerous. love it!

Amazing shots by Hector Santizo at the 2009 Burning Man. Love this year’s theme.

1) Copenhagen as a city definitely represents a sensibility eye can retire myself to yrs from now. Trip highlights were aplenty but if am forced to play favorites (and in no particular order): birthday meal @ noma ; Giacometti sculptures as seen in the Louisana Museum; grass grazing in Fredriksburg gardens, bottomless coffee @ Laundromat cafe
2) Currently listening to: “A walk across rooftops”- Blue nile.

3D drawing on a new level. Meet Rhonda.

Will be the first to admit that Ted [1932-2009] was never my favorite kennedy (that distinction goes to Bobby). He was unlike his brothers, less steeped in glamour and mythology. He was all the better for it. Because with that, he gave us all the kennedy we deserved- a human, gray-haired one.
Listening to “Air – Casanova 70″
Up next on the Netflix queue.
Leading contender for best ad in 2009. Looks to me like it was all on one single-shot take.

Made for an interesting read in between (multiple) reaches for coffee. Although, to be fair, dining al fresco certainly livens any conversation.
“And I say: That little ole lonely elevator girl looking up sighing in an elevator full of blurred demons, what’s her name & address?” —The last line of Jack Kerouac’s introduction to The Americans by Robert Frank, 1958.c. On view @ the Met this fall.
Passion pit- “Manners”, is holding up quite well on multiple listens. Proving to be a strong buy.
Aesthetic pieces I can certainly get behind.

“Brief interviews with hideous men”: From a density standpoint, certainly one of the more conquerable of DFW’s output. Above all, a good read.

Who had have thunk it but eye just might have found GOD through architecture . Sundays @ 10am.
One of the very best photographers around: Boogie. Served best by the “Brazil series”. Very glad to have told him so during my stint in NYC.
P.S: The name you might be seeking out right about now is Thomas Allen.

Purely for the more fetishist inclined among us.

Really looking forward to catching HURT LOCKER on the big screen.
Latest musical discovery is a local band around my way: Passion Pit. And with that I offer up: swimming in a flood.

A brand new type foundry has launched out of the U.K. called, Colophon. They have released a great typeface called, Peggs Regular. Using old typewriter fonts as a reference, a new typewriter-esque font was created. Initially created in a bold weight for the identity of ‘Peggs & son.’, the typeface was lightened to a regular weight and an extended character set created.
Using the crassness of printed typewriter faces, certain bowls of the letterforms don’t connect to create a unique attribute to the typeface.

One of the most well-respected pro skaters in the biz, Stefan Janoski finally got his own long-overdue shoe with Nike SB. In keeping with his relaxed, nonchalant skate style, the Zoom Janoski is a clean, comfortable and functional shoe. Take a look at the making of the shoe by Nike designer, James Arizumi.
I’ve been searching all over for these and cannot find a pair (the boat shoe style in particular)…sold out in days!
